Chennai Metro: TBM bores through and reaches Luz. Now, Marina to Mylapore channel created

On February 9, Monday, after noontime, the TBM ( tunnel boring machine) employed for Chennai Metro project finally bore through the earth in Luz and emerged at an underground area off the Navashakti Vinayaka Temple and completed a marathon effort.
Cheers rent the air inside a make-shift tent where dozens of engineers and workers on this project acknowledged this effort that has tested many of them over some years.
Today’s progress will arrange for a tunnel connect between the Marina and Mylapore points for this Metro rail project. For a Metro rail line that will run underground via San Thome and Kutchery Road, intersect at Luz, with the line moving towards Alwarpet.
The TBM was launched at the Marina in Sept.23, 2023 and the delay in work on this sector of Phase 2 of Metro Rail is due to many factors.
Luz / Mylapore will be a key inter-section junction for two lines of Chennai Metro – that run east-west and north-south.
