A cable car service on the Marina is one of the projects proposed in the recent budget of Greater Chennai Corporation. The budget – Rs.285 crores.
This service is planned between Light House point and Anna Memorial point for city’s residents and tourists. It is to be solar-powered.
Each cable car can take 8 to 10 people.
The project will be run on a Public Private Partnership ( PPP) mode.
Final plans are being looked at and GCC will soon float tenders.
