A guard for the ATM of a private bank on East Mada Street collapsed around midnight on Saturday. He rolled on to the pavement and was lying there for much time till some hawkers found him in great pain.
He seemed to have hurt his hip badly.
His family was called and only then, could he be moved to a state-run hospital.
The bank staff were also alerted.
People who work in this area say that there are no hand-rails from the ATM to the pavement and hence, seniors find it difficult to access or move out of the ATM even as they use the steps here. The problem is stark at night when lighting is poor.
The guard who slipped and fell was in his 60s.
