The annual Mayana Kollai celebration of Sri Angala Parameswari Amman Temple in Narayanaswami Thottam, R A Puram held on Feb.16 was a grand affair, this being the 100th edition of the event, according to the organisers.
The procession, carrying the Amman in a grandly-decorated cart, began late in the evening from the lane off Greenways Road where the temple is, took the route of R. K. Mutt Road, and turned back towards Durgabai Deshmukh Road before moving to the banks of the Adyar river alongside the Muthamizh Peravai campus where the final rituals were conducted late evening.
Families stood outside their houses to welcome the Amman and offered prayers and flowers on the procession route.
The temple zone was decorated with rich illumination of arches and images of the Amman.
