Shantha Eswaran, longtime resident of Abiramapuram, passed away on January 4. She was 81.
Rohit Srivatsav, her grandson said that Shantha Eswaran was deeply rooted in Tamil culture and Hindu religious traditions, was a disciple of Thirupugazh guru, A. S. Raghavan. ‘She always made her presence felt in all of our family functions, with her effervescent renditions of traditional songs and bhajans in marriage events.’ said Rohit.
She participated in sessions of chanting Narayaneeyam slokas and attended music concerts. She is survived by her husband, M. G. Amravaneswaran (retired director of forensic sciences department, Tamil Nadu).
