Global Carnatic Music Association (GCMA) recently organised a workshop in Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya SeniorSecondary School, Mylapore as part of its ‘Create a Rasika’ project.
Vidushi Nithyashree Mahadevan presided over the event and addressed the students. Students were given a membership and have been acquainted as Students Ambassador of Carnatic Music (SAC).
School principal M. S. Jayasri said that there are 15 SACs in this school. “These students got an opportunity to attend many kutcheris held in sabhas and listened to stalwarts during the music season,” she added.

At one event for SAC members, vidwan Palaghat Ramprasad conducted a session on composer Shyama Sastri and vidushi Gayathri on M S Subbulakshmi.
Prizes were awarded to SAC members who attend many kutcheris and to those who wrote reviews consistently. The prize winners included Sanjana Prasad and Kethanram Prabhu.
The school’s music teachers were acknowledged by GCMA members.
