Six senior Carnatic music artistes honoured by Mandaveli auditor

Senior auditor and founder of Savithri Foundation, a resident of Mandaveli, J. Balasubramaniam, is known for his support to performing artistes.

On  January 31, he honoured six eminent Carnatic music artistes with cash awards (porkizhi) and also conferred the ‘Sangeetha Kala Bhushan’ title on them,.

This was held in memory of his parents, Jeyaraman and Savitri. The function was held at Narada Gana Saba hall.

The artistes honoured were mridangam artistes Guruvayur Durai, Mannarkudi Eswaran and Srimushnam Raja Rao, violinists V. V . Subramaniam and Nagai Muralitharan and thavil artiste A. K. Pazhanivel.

Arts promoter Nalli Kuppusami Chetti, City Union Bank CEO, Kamakodi and Sri Krishna Sweets owner M. Murali participated. Arts promoter Cleveland V. V .  Sundaram was also present and spoke at length on the honoured artistes.

Since  Guruvayur Durai could not attend the event, his sishyas received the award.
