Ecumenical Palm Sunday in San Thome. Three churches of various denominations to take part

This is a ecumenical tradition of Holy Week that has been carried on by three churches in San Thome. These are churches that belong to different Christian denominations and they come together on some occasions like this one.

This unique, symbolic event is to take place on Palm Sunday, the start of Holy week which recalls events leading to the condemnation and crucifixion of Jesus.

So on Sunday, Palm Sunday ( March 29) the congregtaions of San Thome Cathedral, CSI St Thomas English Church and CSI St Thomas Tamil Church, ( all located in same area) will congregate at St Raphael’s School campus where priests will bless palms and lead the common procession.

At the junction, each community will then proceed to their parish church for continuation of the service.

Involved in this event are Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai, Pastor Anitha and Pastor Dev Prasad.
