Staff contracted by the Election Commission of India have started visiting houses of senior citizens who are eligible to vote from home.
Those above 85 years and persons with physical disabilities ( PwD) can vote from home.
R V Rao from Abiramapuram reports that Kaushalya,a. ECI-designated staffer visited his flat onTuesday and asked if he would wish to vote in the 2026 Assembly election; she sought his signature of his willingness. Rao said the job was done in 15 minutes.
On the eve of voting day, the staff will visit again with the ballot paper and he can cast his vote at home.
Rao says he was told that this process is on in the area.
