Hawkers cleared on busy Venkatesa Agraharam St. Many return

As part of the job of demolishing shops once raised inside the campus of Sai Baba Temple, Mylapore, as per court orders, GCC workers have also removed the encroachments created by street hawkers  on Venkatesa Agraharam Street near and opposite the temple.
The drive on Monday started from the southern tip of the railway parking zone  and ended near Karpagambal Kapaleeswarar Kalyana Mandapam
Workers also removed the pavement shops near Alamelmangapuram corner.
But later that evening, some hawkers were back in business and more were seen on Tuesday morning.
Since the time MTC buses and cars was diverted on this street following Chennai Metro project in Luz / Mylapore, this street is busy most parts of the day. But the hawkers have had a free run.
