Huge sculpture of ‘Mother of Sorrows’ set up at Cathedral for Lenten season

A giant, extra life-size sculpture of Mother of Sorrows was unveiled by Dr. George Anthonysamy, archbishop of the Madras-Mylapore archdiocese at the St. Thomas national shrine Cathedral in San Thome on Wednesday.

Rector of the church, Fr, Vincent Chinnathurai said that this image would help people meditate on the sufferings of Jesus, during the Lenten season.

A giant, 26 ft tall cross has also been erected in the centre of the church campus; it is lit at night.
