Night turned to day on March 23 at Sri Kapali Tenple as hundreds of people gathered to witness the lord being taken in procession in the large and green vahanam, greeted by a row of large kolams in Sannidhi Street drawn by women that evening.
This was day two of the annual Panguni Fest 2026 and the focus was on the punnai-maram vahanam procession.
As the hour of 10 p.m. approached, streams of people headed to the temple, to take part in the event and after the special arathi to the lord, the palaquin seated well on the shoulders of two dozen volunteers, the procession moved out of the temple and on to the mada streets.
