Civic workers have bene demolishing some 30-plus shops which were built in the campus of the Sai Baba Temple, Venkatesa Agraharam Street, Mylapore.
Madras High Court-appointed administrators, namely Justices P N Prakash and K. N. Basha
gave these orders after they found, among the loads of mismanagement and corruption deals here, that the management of these shops also reeked of corruption and their promoters paid a a pittance in rentals.
GCC officials with the assistance Mylapore Police got the demolition work going this morning. The shop-keepers, who were given advance notice, had vacated the shops and then the JCB and the workers got to work.
The complex included a provision shop, a nursery and a saloon , fabricator shops and so on
A fire engine was parked closeby to address any emeregency or need.
The two judges were appointed after the Court found a host of irregularities while handling a case filed by a person, then asked the managing body to be dissolved and allowed the judges to manage the temple’s affairs. READ a previous story here
