Sumathy Nithya, member of The Mylapore Club excelled in the recent state-level badminton Master’s championship conducted by TNBA (Tamilnadu Badminton Association) in Madurai.
Senior players competed in different age groups.
In the 50+ category, Sumathy won the women’s doubles (along with Kavithaa) and the women’s singles title.
She was also the runners-up in the mixed doubles event (along with Muthukumaraswamy).
She achieved the same feat during last year’s tournament – in the 45+ category.
Sumathy, along with seasoned veteran players Vijay Kariyakar and Suresh Kariyakar, also conducts badminton training for beginners and advanced players at Regal Badminton Academy, partnered with Shuttler Badminton Court, near Citi Center mall.
