Palm Sunday signals the start of the Holy Week in the Church calendar, when people recall and dwell on events leading to the condemnation and death of Jesus on a cross.
People of three local churches, of two Christians denominations – Catholic and Protestant – gathered at St Raphael’s School campus on March 29 morning, had the palms blessed and took out a reliogious procesion before dispersing to their own churches, all located on San Thome High Road.
The St Thomas Cathedral, CSI St Thomas English Church and CSI St Thomas Tamil Church joined hands for this event which has been held for some years now.
The religious heads of the churches, Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai, Pastor Anitha and Pastor Dev Prasad were part of the event.
