Elections 2026; Candidates start door-to-door, small community meet campaigns

Candidates contesting in the Mylapore constituency have begun campaigns locally.

Most are door-to-door and small community meets.  One morning day, DMK candidate, Dha Velu conversed with members of RAPRA, one association that covers the R. A. Puram zone. The meet was held in a local park.  (First photo)

Elsewhere, TVK candidate, P. Venkataramanan, met residents in the Teynampet zone of the constituency, in his door to door campaign and later met fish hawkars on Singaravelar Salai (Loop Road) – photo below.

One late evening, NTK’s candidate R. L. Arun was on a door-to-door campaign in the thickly-inhabited Pughs Road zone in R. A. Puram. (photo avove)

All the three candidates have a hyper-active social media campaign on. While Velu posts visuals of his campaigns and meets with local DMK unit cadres, Arun’s Insta videos are loud and GenZ-tuned. And TVK ‘fans’ are amplifying Venkataramanan’s street-level meets.

On Friday afternoon, BJP announced Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan as its candidate.  There have bene mixed recations rightaway on the choice.

The buzz was that prime minister Narendra Modi was to campaign in the city and go around Mylapore – this was cancelled.
