Elections 2026: Intensive campaigns are on

25 people filed nomination papers to contest in Mylapore in the TN Assembly elections due on April 23. This is the lowest number of applications among Chennai constituencies.

The papers of candidates of the leading political parties, DMK, BJP, TVK and NTK were all accepted.

The candidates have been undertaking long and extensive street to street campaigns now.

NTK’s R. L. Arun makes sure he talks to shop-keepers even and he and his party cadres cover dense colonies. The DMK’s Dha Velu always has a big group of cadres and party’s local area councillors in his campaign trail.

TVK’s Venkataraman has been trying to cover vast ground, being new to the zone. He even visits houses when invited and poses for pictures.

The BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan has got some national party leaders to accompany her on her jeep tours. One day though, she hopped on to a woman’s bike to negotiate Mylapore’s narrow streets quickly.
