R. Rangachari (90), retired director, department of tourism, and former secretary-general of the South India Hotels and Restaurants Association (SIHRA) passed away recently.
An alumnus of P. S. High School and Vivekananda College, he spent his entire life in Mylapore – inititially on on Warren Road and then on First Main Road R. A. Puram.
He was instrumental in guiding generations of hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs across South India.
Besides being with SIHRA and in the ministry of tourism, he was also on the board of directors for TTDC and Pandian group of hotels
