Fault at Foreshore Estate EB sub-station leaves colonies in darkness

There was power failure in San Thome area on Tuesday night, July 27.

Foreshore Estate, Mandaveli, R. A. Puram, Santhome and parts of R. K. Salai were plunged into darkness

Uma Shankar, TNEB EE of the Mylapore, Foreshore Estate area said that there was a ‘bus fault’ at the substation in the Foreshore Estate. The failure of the transformer led to this problem.

The entire power unit was shut down to set things right. Normally it takes 12 hours to set right such a problem, says Uma Shankar.

Power went off at about 8 p.m. and repair work started at around 3 a.m. and was set right by Wednesday morning.

But residents were angry that calls to the Fuse Call centre in San Thome-Foreshore Estate area were not answered.
