The 9th annual drama festival of the Mylapore Fine Arts Club will be held from August 13 to 17 at 6.45 p.m.

Cheran, film director and actor will inaugurate the fest and confer the title ‘Nataka Kala Nipuna’ on Y. Gee. Mahendra for his service to theatre.

The inauguration is on August 13 evening. V.S. Raghavan felicitates the awardee.

The function will be followed by Y. Gee. Mahendra’s new play ‘Natakam’ written by Chitralaya Sriram.

The festival includes Bombay Gnanam’s new play ‘Saswatham’ on Aug. 14.

Railpriya’s Nyandi Vilas by Ananthu on Aug. 15. Gurukulam Original boys Company’s Naarkalikku Edamillai by M.B. Murthy on Aug. 16 and Sowmya Theatre’s Karuppu Aadugal by T.V. Radhakrishnan on the Aug. 17.

A unique Bharathanatyam performance by The Narasimhacharis will be held on August 14 at 7.30 p.m. at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet.

The Narasimhacharis will be performing two interesting pieces as part of this year’s theme “Bharatham Kadhai Kadhaiyaam” at the Natya Rangam Festival.

The first is a portrayal of writer Sujatha’s short story ‘Amma Mandapam’. The second dance is the story of Saint Purandaradasa. The entire presentation is for an hour.

Passes for this show will be available at the venue.

The 10th annual music and dance festival on the compositions of Dr. Rukmini Ramani will be held from August 17 to 21 at Narada Gana Sabha mini hall.

N. Narayanan, state president, Thamizhnadu Brahmins Association will inaugurate the event. Concerts will be held daily from 5.30 p.m. onwards.

This is organised by Shivanugraha Utsav Committee and Sivan Fine Arts Academy in association with Narada Gana Sabha.
