On display here are products made of glass, plastic, ceramic, and melamine.
The products include microwave-friendly cookware, water bottles, lunch carriers, yoga mats, dinner sets, plate stands, coffee mugs, machine washable slip mats, salad bowls, stainless steel scrubbers, rice / idli steamer.
Sama’s owner Syed Athar Ahmed says all these are sourced from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Korea, Italy, and France.
“80 percent of the products are imported and 20 percent Indian products, ” he says.
Homemakers and office-goers are frequent customers here because they find a variety of accessories that can make life easy.
Ahmed began business with a small store in Egmore but with a growing clientele opened a bigger one on C. P. Ramaswamy Road, alongside the flyover.
Since he is also a wholesale supplier, Ahmed travels abroad to source products for the local market.
“I also source items for customers who specify a particular product,” he says.
The brands from U. S. A are the Interdesign range of detachable racks to hold bath accesories, Rubbermaid range of food storage containers and Oxo brand of slicers.
The Korean brand, Lock & Lock offers air-tight containers for food storage that would keep the food fresh for a week if stored in the fridge.
Brands from Indonesia like Lionstar offer kitchen drawer sets.
Besides the branded products, there are many others which can be said to be handy and useful at home.
Sama is open on all days of the week from 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
