Classical art connosieurs will want to watch this ‘Pada Varnam’ project film on May 19, 6.30 p.m. at Narada Gana Sabha mini hall .
It is billed as part of the monthly lec- dem presentation of Natyarangam, Narada Gana Sabha
Writer-critic Sujatha Vijayaraghavan says this this is a unique composition and choreography of a pada varnam in Tamil, ‘a collaboration of three women, rather three housewives, who are great artistes in their respective fields.
“I should have said four housewives as the composer was also a housewife turned ascetic,” adds Sujatha.
The lyrics are byAndavan Pichai (Maragathavalli), the compilation of lyrics and music by Kamakshi Kuppuswamy (daughter of Andavan Pichai ), choreography by Kalanidhi Narayanan and Savitri Jagannatha Rao and Bharatanatyam by Sangita Isvaran.
The documentation shows step by step how the song and dance evolved.
