Cathedral seeks volunteers to guide tourists at heritage campus

Voluntary guides are invited to serve at the St Thomas Basilica, San Thome. Parish priest Fr. Mathias says that the church wishes to have people who can speak in Malayalam and Telugu, French and German to guide visitors at this world famous shrine.

Volunteers will be briefed on the key aspects of this heritage place which has the cathedral, the tomb of saint Thomas and a small museum.

There is a steady stream of tourists and visitors at the cathedral and hence the need for volunteers.

Fr Mathias says that volunteers will need to spare time from 10 am to 5 pm daily and can do so in parts. The church may consider employing some volunteers on a  full-time basis too based on their skills. He said the preference will be for Catholics.
