Dr Ranga Road residents ask local police to tell temple fest hosts to tone down volume of public audio

Residents of Marvel Raghavendra Resident Welfare Association, 87/89, Dr. Ranga Road, Mylapore say that they want Abhiramapuram police to tell the organizers of a festival at a local temple to tone down the volume of the audio systems which blare prayers and music and make life very uneasy.

There is a temple on the pavement next to these apartments – Ellaiamman Temple which is conducting its Kumbhabishekam on Monday June 29.

The residents say the hosts have taken up a place opposite our apartment and have started homam for the kumbabishekam. This is perfectly fine. But they have put two big loud speakers and we are given to understand that the homams will continue till Monday and the loudspeakers will be on till that time, they say.

“The noise level is very high. Such high decibel noise level through out the day for over 4 days would be creating high stress on the ears, we request the police authorities to take necessary steps to instruct the committee of the temple to keep the noise level low,” said one resident.

“We are also devotees of temple but we have experienced this noise pollution last year during Aadi (July) month when they were continuously playing songs,” says another.
