Vandalism case at TN Music and Fine Arts University; former student arrested

A former student of the TN Music College has been arrested by the police in connection with a case where the office room of the vice-chancellor of the TN Music and Fine Arts University was vandalised and threat notes left behind last week.

K. Gayathri, the well-known veena artiste who is VC of the University which functions from the Music College campus, off Dr D G S Dhinakaran Road in R A Puram was shocked to see her office vandalised, some framed photos of the chief minster broken and a threat note left behind in the middle of last week.

Police investigations found that the culprit was a former mridangam student here who resides in north Chennai, who seems to have run-ins with the college management in the past.

There seems to also be an ongoing opposition from the head of the mridangam department after the VC took action on irregularities here.
