The steady premonsoon showers have been showing up civic problems in some areas of the Mylapore neighbourhood.
Streets which do not have a good storm water drain system witness stagnation of rainwater.
Also, with some private internet providers digging up streets and road sides to relay cables and these parts not formally relaid, there are many areas where the streets are now slushy and muddy.
The positive action though has been the cleaning of drains the past weeks – sludge and waste in the drains has been cleared by workers to allow free flow of rainwater and prevent flooding.
