A boutique in Alwarpet’s C. P. Ramaswamy Road had complained to Abiramapuram police that a group of shoppers stole a bunch of dresses on the pretext of shopping. The theft took place top of this week.
CCTV visuals show two sets of shoppers inside the store and one young woman slipping clothes into a bag-like opening fitted into her long skirt even as two others engage the salesperson in conversation.
The shopkeeper was unaware of the theft till much later. When the person alerted a friend who also runs a store on the opposite side of the road they realised fhat the same people seen in the CCTV visuals had visited this store but nothing was swiped.
The targeted store is in the Chennai Corporation Complex.
