Organic ‘Zerowaste’ store opens in Mylapore

Ecoindian, a organic zerowaste store, has launched its second store after Adyar in Mylapore. Ecoindian is focused on bringing organic farmers, artisans, self help groups who produce native eco-friendly products, directly in their store by eliminating middlemen.

The store offers a variety of products across various categories like grocery and staples, beverages, branded organic foods, fruits and vegetables, gourmet, sustainable and household products.

Childhood friends Pradeep & Prem, the founders of Ecoindian, were into natural farming. Their travel experiences made them realise that there are so many farmers who wish to give organic, natural & pure food, but lacked the reach with consumers. So they ended up creating an organic market place as a platform for organic farmers, artisans, self help groups & aboriginal tribes.

“This is a small effort to resume our lost and forgotten humble and natural lifestyle of our people”, says Pradeep.

“Our products are sourced from across the country- turmeric from Erode, millets from kotagiri, oils from Madurai, rice from Tanjavur, dals from Jaipur, jaggery and palm sugar from Salem”, he adds.

Since the store does not use plastic at all, they encourage customers to bring their own bags and containers by offering a 5% discount. For oil, they provide glass bottles at Rs. 30 which is refunded on return.

The store provides free delivery across Chennai for orders above Rs. 1000. They are open on all days of the week from 8.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The store is located at 19, Dr. Ranga Road, Mylapore. Ph: 8124001177.
