Schools and heat wave: parents express anxieties and suggestions

Parents of children who study in schools in the Mylapore – San Thome zone are concerned at steps that managements are taking to shield children from the torrid heat of this season.

One parent says that schools continue to have PT classes in the open and well past 11 a.m. when the temperature is closer to 36degrees and many kids get dehydrated. They suggest that PT classes be held indoors or suspended or replaces with extra-curricular activities.

One San Thome resident says she say a group of students being led to a playground at noontime.

Another parent wonders if school level cricket matches must be held in the city at this time of the year. Some young cricketers have been playing in these matches.
