The Department of Journalism, University of Madras honoured R. S. Narayanaswamy, veteran journalist, on May 4.
Narayanaswamy was recognised for being in the first batch of students in the journalism course conducted by the university (1947-1948).
Dr. Ravindran, Head of the Department of Journalism referred to the various interests of Narayanaswamy and his dynamic personality. He also mentioned his long tenure in the renowned newspaper, ‘The Indian Express’.
Dr. Thiruvasagam, Vice Chancellor University of Madras presided.
Narayanaswamy referred to the role of newspapers and of great editors of the past in moulding public opinion.
Although he has retired from the “Express”, he maintains an active lifestyle, which includes his commitment to the VHP.
