Three local groups star in Kodai Nataka Vizha: begins April 22

Three Mylapore-based theatre groups will feature in Kartik Fine Arts’ 23rd Kodai Nataka Vizha, a Tamil theatre fest from April 22 to May 5. The fest is to be held at Narada Gana Sabha, TTK Road.

Dr. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti will be the chief guest at the inauguration. R. Thyagarajan, Chief Post Master General will inaugurate the vizha.

A series of competitive plays will be staged daily at 7 p.m. onwards.

Special prizes will be given for the best review of each play.  This is to encourage rasikas to see the plays and interact.

Prayoga will pay a special tribute to its senior and writer, R. Muthusubramanian of Loganathan Colony, Mylapore who passed away earlier this week. His play ‘ ‘Karmayogi’ will be staged despite the death, said a Kartik Fine Arts team member. The show is on April 23.

The other Mylapore-based troupes include Chennai Drama House which presents ‘ Kurukku Vazhiyil Traffic Jam’ , touted as a full length comedy by Vivek Rajagopal and Agusto Creations’ Achu Asai’ by Augusto.

The former is on April 27 and the latter on April 29.
