Colonies located off TTK Road like Parthasarathy Gardens Street and JJ Road are being targeted by thieves.
A day ago, an attempt was made by a burglar to break into a businessman’s house. The swift response of the security guard here forced the burglar to flee after injuring the guard.
Recently, a man who was dubbed the ‘naked thief’ was spotted on CCTV cameras fixed by local residents making away with things like gas cylinders, furniture and the like.
The man has been arrested. Teynampet police under whose jurisdiction this area falls said the man had started lifting things after he was dismissed by the famil for whom he worked for. He continued to target other houses here.
This is a posh area with many VIPs living here. Most have tehir private guards and fitted CCTVs on their premises.
Residents say that crimes have begun after the Sri Lanka Deputy High Commission which was located here moved out. Then, a large posse of police were posted here round the clock and this also secured the area between Kasturi Rangan Road and TTK Road.
