The Chennai Corporation seems to be looking at a plan to widen a section of R. K. Mutt Road to ease flow of traffic in the north to south side. The section of this busy road from the Mandaveli Post office end to the MTC bus terminus end is not only narrow but also encroached on which creates bottlenecks here.
Also, there has been some amount of opposition to the civic body plan to build a flyover east-west at the Mandaveli junction ( MTC terminus zone). People have told the city Mayor that it is the traffic issue on R K Mutt Road that needs attention and if a flyover has to be built then it must be north-south.
Even widening of R K Mutt Road will call for acquiring some private properties and this can pose a huge challenge.
