The students of St. Anthony’s Girls’ School, Mandaveli celebrated pongal at their school premises on Jan 9. Gandhi – Senior advocate, Madras High Court presided over the event and installed a portrait of poet Subramania Bharathiyar at the school. Mahalingam, prof, Tamil dept, Presidency College, Madhivanan, secretary and Shobana, treasurer of Bharatiyar Sangam were the special invitees.
Students participated in kummi, kolattam, silambattam, thappatam and several other events. A game ‘Uriyadithal’ was also organised for the students. Pongal prepared by the headmistress Rev. Sr. Jesintha Victoria and the staff members was served to the students.
