Eminent Tamil scholar, Vai. Rathinasabapathy, passed away on Mar 13. He was aged 86 years. Rathinasabapathy was the editor of the Tamil magazine Siddhantham for more than 9 years.
He was a Lecturer at Annamalai University from 1967 to 1986, after which he was the Professor and Head of the Saiva Siddhanta department, University of Madras till 1991. He has received various awards like Nirai Gnana Kondal from Kundrakudi Adigalaar; Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar Award from MAC Trust and Charities; Siddhantha Sarabham from Saiva Siddhantha Perumandram and Siva Tamil Chelvar from Thiruvaavaduthurai Adheenam. He has published more than 35 books about Saivam and has been the editor for many reference books also. He has delivered more than 1000 lectures in India and abroad.
