Finale of QMC centenary on July 15 & 16; book to be released

The finale of the centenary of Queen Mary’s College will have progammes scheduled on July 15 and 16, 2015.

Since July 14 is the birthday of QMC, the students, staff and alumnae have planned to celebrate this day informally.

There will be special Assembly at 8.45am. The Old Students Association (OSA) has planned to cut a cake. The OSA will sponsor ice cream to all students.

July 15 happens to be the official day of celebrations. State governor Rosaiah will inaugurate the function at 11.30 am at the campus. He will release the centenary souvenir and address the gathering. Tamil Nadu state ministers are expected to attend the function too.

The afternoon session will start at 2.30pm that day.

QMC’s senior alumnae will be honoured. The evening function will start by 4 pm. State minister Valarmathy will be a guest. The Centenary Book will be released at 4.30pm by the college principal Dr. Akthar Begum and copies received by two members of Dorothy de la Hey (the first principal of QMC).

City historian V. Sriram will review the book and speak.

By 6.00pm the function will be concluded.

On July 16, the state sports minister will visit the campus and address the students. Lunch will be served to about 6000 students who study here.
