For the past students of Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, Mylapore, Aug 15 was a day they would never forget. About 75 members of SMRITHI – the school’s alumni association got together for a meet and greet session at the school campus. Anecdotes were exchanged and stories and memories were shared. An unforgettable day indeed.
The event started off with a cultural programme by class XII students. Alumni members then took over the stage with a gala performance of their own. A speech by Dr. Prema Kasturi, secretary of the school and elections followed the cultural event. Ashok Chand was elected the president of the association and Yegnesh Tawker and Srinivas Rajagopal as the vice – president and secretary respectively.
Several issues were discussed at this meet. The alumni offered to help the students of the recently inaugurated clubs (quiz, debate, maths) by conducting workshops periodically. In the past, the alumni was actively involved in social causes like cleaning up the railway station, fulfilling wish lists for Christmas and planting saplings. They decided to continue work on these social causes this year.
