Tamil Puthaga Nanbargal (Tamil Book Readers Forum) organised an event on June 7 to honour two great Tamil writers, Dr. Indira Parthasarathy and Ashokamitran.

The event started at 6:30pm at the TAG Centre, TTK Road, Alwarpet. Former union minister P. Chidambaram was the chief guest. Lifetime Achievement awards and a cash prize of Rs.50,000 were given to the authors.

The award and the cash prize were sponsored by the TAG Corporation.

Chidambaram said that he has been a good friend of Dr. Indira Parthasarathy ever since they met in 1972 at Delhi. He said this event should have been held in a bigger, open space like the Marina.

Close friends and family members of the authors were present. Kalki’s assistant editor  Venkatesh and writer Tiruppur Krishnan were on stage.

Some of the prominent works by these authors are Ramanujar, Kuruthipunal, Aagaya Thamarai and Oru Parvayil Chennai Nagaram.
