Traffic Police run ‘observe traffic rules’ campaign but bikers ride on without helmets

Traffic Police today ran a campaign asking motorists to observe traffic rules. Groups of them were seen at major road junctions distributing leaflets to motorists.

The police teams were seen at two junctions on Kamaraj Salai ( beach road) and on Edward Elliots Road.

They also waved down some bikers, most of whom did not wear helmets. They were challaned on the spot.

However, through the morning this reporter observed that at least 75% of the motorists on bikes did not wear helmets and they had a free run on the roads.
