K. Muthuswamy & Subbulakshmi: awarded for service to music

DSC_0065Sri Krishna Sweets  conferred the`Nallor Virudu’ award on K. Muthuswamy and Subbulakshmi. Muthuswamy is the founder and honorary secretary Nandi Fine Arts and  Subbulakshmi Muthuswamy is a vocalist, violinist, music educator and founder of Sri Lakshminarayana School of Music.

The award was presented for their contribution in the field of  Carnatic music. Subbulakshmi is an`A’ grade artiste of Radio Ceylon and has performed in concerts on the violin, some along with her father and with her famed brothers L. Vaidyanathan, L. Subramaniam and L. Shenkar. She served as the Headmistress of the Bengal Association School in Chennai. Her students include her daughters M. Lalitha and Nandini Muthuswamy, violinists. The Muthuswamys are residents of V. M. Street, Mylapore.
