soccer-coaching-centreUnifi Capital, a specialized portfolio management company, as part of its community development initiatives recently partnered with Slum Soccer, a non-profit organisation, to adopt Ekambaram Colony, Mylapore and encourage sports among the slum kids of this locality.

Ekambaram colony which lies on the sides of the Buckingham canal was the Chennai Corporation’s dumping yard in Mylapore. The street has very narrow lanes and even lacks basic amenities. The mounds of garbage were cleared, the cows were moved and the land was levelled to make space for a coaching center there. The center was inaugurated on Jan 2 by K. Sarath Reddy, the founder of Unifi Capital.

Close to 100 children from nearby communities will be trained at this center. Unifi will support these children by providing them access to the playground, coaching inputs, uniforms, footwear, healthy snacks after each practice session and special motivational camps.
