TNCA under-16 tourney; Tushar’s century takes St Bede’s into final. P. S. Senior falters in other semis

St. Bede’s meets PSBB Millennium in the finale of the TN Cricket Association’s school cricket tourney on Monday at the Marina cricket ground, Triplicane.

The two school teams moved to the final by winning in contrasting ways.

St. Bede’s made small work of the Don Bosco, Egmore team in the match played at the Murugappa ground, north Chennai. Tushar Raheja scored 110 runs and his team made the best of a series of dropped catches by the DB fielders to total 249 runs in 49 overs ( the semis were 50-over matches).

DB players were under pressure to score big and fast and they fell cheaply scoring just 81 and were bowled out in 30.5 overs, giving the San Thome school team an easy ride into the final. Raghavendra R took  3 for 22, P. Vidyuth, 3 for 9 and Md Adnan Khan, 3 for 9.

Elsewhere, PSBB Millennium played against P S Senior team of Mylapore. The PSBB players scored 159 runs in 44.4 overs, S. Aakash scoring a well-made 50.

The P S Senior team were on track as C. Adithya scored 34 and kept the sights on the target but the team failed in the final phase, folding up on 148 in 48.4 overs, making it an evenly contested match.
