S. Ve. Shekher’s revived play ‘On More Exorcist’ to be staged

Actor-politician S. Ve. Shekher has resurrected an old, popular play, laced it with humour and current life episodes and is ready to stage it this week – Kartik Fine Arts presents it at Narada Gana Sabha today,May 24, 6.30 p.m. and there is a show the next day too, on May 25, 7 p.m.

‘One More Exorcist’ will go on the floor some 37 years after it was first staged; Shekher says it is a parody on horror films and touched on issues that affected people.

The play, a spoof was written at a time when the English film’ Exorcist’ was playing to full houses in the city. The script was localised and had a good run in the city and outside.

Shekher says drama enthusiasts asked him to revisit the play and stage it now, after he revived another old and popular play, ‘ Crazy Thieves in Palavakkam.’

Nataka Priya, the theatre group that Shekher manages from his home in Mandavelipakkam is staging the play.

The show on May 25 is presented by Brahma Gana Sabha and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.
