Woman, who blackmailed Mylaporean businessman, on the run

A 40 year old woman, who has blackmailed several men, including a Mylaporean, and who faces charges in the jurisdictions of three city police stations is being searched by the investigators at the police cybercrime wing.

According to the police, Manjula Venugopal, a resident of Salai Street, Mylapore befriended Satishkumar, a businessman from Mylapore on a social media website. She soon started sending him messages. She then arranged a meeting and took selfies with him. She later posted them online with lewd messages and threatened to tell his family if he did not pay up.

A case has been registered under sections 66D (cheating by personation by using computer resources) and section 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
