Mylapore’s rasikas spoilt for choice

Mylapore’s rasikas of music and dance may well be a pampered community. They have so much to choose from concerts and cultural programmes, almost daily.

On Sunday evening, it was time for the curtains to go up on a dance production called ‘ My Thyagaraja’ by Lakshmi Vishwanathan but the Bhavan’s auditorium was not even half full.

Then came the answer to that condition, from a photographer.

Some rasikas were filling up the Bhavan’s smaller hall for a Navaratri concert while others had made it to a programme at R. R. Sabha, a few metres away.

Lakshmi’s recital did get more people in at the delayed start and as the rains came, the concert hoppers streamed in too – with wet umbrellas.
