Panguni fest: Angampoopavai rituals to held at temple tank tomorrow morning

Tomorrow morning, a small but significant event is held ahead of the Arubathimoovar procession in the evening.

According to legends, a small girl named Angampoopavai was brought back to life by Saint Thirugnanasambandar, one of the most prominent of the 63 Nayanmars, at Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore.

To mark this event, the idols of Thirugnanasambandar, Angampoopavai and her father are brought to the small mandapam at the western entrance of the temple tank where an abhishekam, pooja and rituals are held.

They are then placed near the kodimaram at the western entrance of the temple. They join the procession in the evening.
