Writers Charukesi, K. Bharathi to be honoured with Kamban Kazhagam awards

The 44th Kamban Kazhagam awards are to be given to distinguished people on August 10 at AVM Rajeswari Mandapam. The honours will be done by Justice Ramasubramanian.

Among the awardees are a few from the neighbourhood.

Prof. Solomon Pappaiah gets the award instituted by Azhwargal Aaraaichi Mayyam, while Kumari Anandan is honoured with K. Swaminathan Memorial Award endowed by Justice M M Ismail.  Va. Jayadevan gets the prize instituted by the family of MM Ismail.

Then there are fifteen individual honours – K. Thuriyanandam, K. Sumathi, N. C. Gnanaprakasam, Kuzha. Kadiresan, Vijayalakshmi Ramaswami, Sadiq Abdul Hamid, Seetha Ravi (ex-editor of Kalki), T. Rajaram, Ranimaindan, Manimekalai Kannan, K. Bharathi (a Abiramapuram resident and wife of Justice Chandru), Abiramapuram-based writer Charukesi, (award instituted in memory of Udumalai Kalpana) and Muthu Srinivasan.

The joint secretary Sarada Nambi Arooran and secretary, Ilakkiyaveedi Iniyavan of Kamban Kazhagam are putting the event together.
