The #MeToo movement which has also impacted the dance and music community besides others in the city is leading to further actions. One such is a public meet in the area on the issue of sexual harassment to be held by a NGO in R. A. Puram on Oct.21, 3 p.m. onwards.
Ek Potlee Ret Ki is the NGO hosting this meet where people can share their stories, make suggestions and plan further and firm action on how to redress the issues raised locally.
Dancer-scholar Dr Swarnamalya Ganesh has been actively participating in networking with those who have raised these issues, especially in the classical music and dance area and intends to ask the ministry of culture and arts bodies to set up committees which will address sexual harassment cases. She too is involved in the Oct 21 meet to be held at the MGR Janaki College for Women campus in R. A. Puram ( near the Adyar bridge). Open to all.
