St. Bede’s staff badly injured by speeding car; accident in San Thome

A non-teaching staff of St Befe’s AI Hr Sec School, San Thome is critical in hospital after he was hit and thrown off by a speeding car near the roads junction outside San Thome Cathedral.

Christy was walking to work at about 7 a.m. Wednesday morning when a speeding car which was trying to overtake a motorbike near the gate of Archbishop’s House turned inwards into the pavement, threw Christy in the air and rammed into a gate and a post before coming to a halt.

Christy was badly injured and was taken to the Govt. General Hospital, says Stafford Mantel of the school’s Old Boys Association.

The car was driven by a young man and there was a young woman seated beside him.
