Community gathers for Ramzan prayers at local mosques

Muslims have begun to observe the holy period of Ramzan from Tuesday. Prayers are now held at periodic times in observance of Ramzan.

The community fasts during this period and breaks it after the evening prayer, with food served at many mosques.

At the Jumma Masjid located off Kutchery Road in San Thome, the officials managing the masjid and cooks said a prayer before they began work to cook the nombu meal on Tuesday morning. This is served to the congregation in the evening and is done every day of Ramzan.
